Winner of 'Most Sustainable Food Business' Award

We've been awarded ‘Most Sustainable Food Business’ by the #LuxLifeAwards!

This is the 2nd time we’ve been recognised for sustainability in industry awards and hopefully not the last! We continue to strive to do things better than we have before which really comes down to attention to detail and some questioning of the status quo.

We’re not perfect and there’s so much further we want to go but here are some basic things we do in our kitchen for anyone who's interested:

🔸 Use as much of the vegetable as possible (eg. mushroom stalks go into the stock that we use in our béchamel; we make beet hummus from 'wonky' bits that don't make it on to the Hackney Hot).

🔸Any food and general waste are disposed of properly and transformed into energy. Some of the food waste also gets turned into fertiliser for farms (how nice is that for a circular economy?). We currently use First_Mile but have used ReFood UK in the past

🔸 Recycle ♻️

🔸 Buy products locally and seasonally - it reduces our carbon footprint by avoiding long journeys plus it’s nice for the community

🔸 Partner with the right people

🔸 Use Tupperware to store stuff (easier to date label too). We have had a clingfilm free kitchen from day 1

🔸 Don't use foil (it's worse than clingfilm!)

🔸 Takeaway packaging is recyclable - so important right now as we're using so much more!!

🔸 Eco friendly cleaning products
